1500 empire tournament list

I was looking at the 2250 point list I wrote the other day and I realised I can compress it into a quite strong 1500 point list.

Hero's

Captain of the Empire - Barded warhorse, lance, shield, dawn Armour (+4 plate armour with rerolls to failed armour saves), talisman of protection - 120

Battle stranded barer - armour of meteoric Iron (+1 armour save), Dragon Bow (36" S6) - 125


Core Units

24 spearman - shields, MSC – 164
10 halberdiers – spearman detachment - 50
10 crossbowmen - spearman detachment - 80

20 spearman - shields, MSC – 140
10 halberdiers – spearman detachment - 50
10 handgunners - spearman detachment – 80

9 knight – MSC, Steel Standard – 267

Special Units

5 pistoliers – musician, Outrider -104

Great Cannon – 100

Great Cannon – 100

Rare Units

Helstorm Rocket Battery – 115

1495 points (not sure how to use the last 5)

85 foot troops (including hero) 15 Caverly (including Hero) & 3 war-machines pretty good for a 1500 point army I think

I know no wizards but I always find a Cannon to be much more useful.

Ummm, im not too sure about this but i think it would be better if you had 10 Spearmen with a detachment of 10 handgunners. That way, if you get charged you get two ranks fighting and possibly the stand and shoot from the detachment. Also you could swap the Talisman of Protection for the Sigil of Sigmar (Magic Resistance 1) to help you out with your magic defense from blocking that particularely nasty Rule of Burning Iron. Those last leftover points dont really matter anyway... well not that much anyway.

I don't get what your on about with the 10 spearmen with a 10 handgunner detachment.

do you mean insteed of the big squads of spearmen or do you mean change the halberders to spearmen?

Ummm, im not too sure about this but i think it would be better if you had 10 Spearmen with a detachment of 10 handgunners.

Parent units have to be twice the size of the detachment.

personally i'd change the spearmen to swordsmen. the extra WS, I and save in cc makes them the best value for money in an empire army.

all people ever want to field is swordsmen yes they fight better. but Halberders and Spearmen just look so much cooler

also with the new Rules Halberders are actually decent when fielded 30-40 strong

well i had a roman themed empire army, so swords and shields were the way for me...
